RainTrain Sprinkler

The Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler is constructed with rustproof cast iron and is capable of watering up to 13,500 square feet, although it is more effective when covering a smaller area of 11,900 square feet. The sprinkler arms can be adjusted to create different spray patterns and arcs, allowing water to be thrown anywhere from 15 to 56 feet.

Similar to an electric model train, the sprinkler travels along a hose following a predetermined path, with the hose acting as the rails. To use the sprinkler, the homeowner lays out the hose in the desired pattern, making sure to avoid sharp corners or turns that could cause kinks or derailment. The front wheel of the sprinkler runs along the hose, while the two traction-ready rear wheels provide stability. The hose connects to the back of the sprinkler for continuous watering.

LR Nelson recommends using a 5/8-inch hose for the best results, although a 1/2-inch hose up to 200 feet in length can also be used. To stop the sprinkler, the user can simply place a shut-off ramp on the hose, lifting the sprinkler off its "rails" and stopping the operation simultaneously. It is important to have at least five feet of hose between the shut-off ramp and the water source.

The Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler operates at two motor speeds, high and low. On high power, the sprinkler travels at a rate of approximately 37 feet per hour, with a water application of 1/4-inch. On low power, the sprinkler moves at a rate of 21 feet per hour, with a water application of 1/2-inch. Installation is simple and requires no tools, with the sprinkler weighing 18 pounds.
